If row-level security is off, your database is public. Most people find out the hard way.
Platforms like Supabase expose your database directly to the browser. That is fast to build with and unforgiving if you skip the access rules. We audit every table, write the policies that were never written, and verify they actually hold.
This is the single most common serious flaw in vibe coded apps.
Your AI tool created tables as you added features and never enabled row-level security on them
You have RLS switched on, but the policies say USING (true), which permits everything
Your anon key is in your frontend, which is normal, but nothing behind it is actually restricted
You are not sure which of your tables are protected and which are wide open
Your policies work for reads but silently allow any authenticated user to write to any row
You have Firebase rules still sitting in test mode, months after you meant to change them
Sound familiar? You're not alone. This is exactly why we built our database security service.
We check every table, then prove the fix works.
Complete table-by-table audit
We enumerate every table in your schema and report exactly which have RLS enabled, which have real policies, and which are currently readable or writable by anyone.
Policies written for your actual data model
Correct policies depend on how your data is shaped. We write rules that fit your ownership and sharing model rather than pasting a generic template that breaks your app.
Verified by trying to break it
After the fix we authenticate as one user and attempt to read and modify another user data. A policy is not finished until that attempt fails.
Write access, not just reads
Many half-fixed apps restrict SELECT and leave INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE open. We cover every operation, including the ones people forget.
Service key and secret review
Service role keys bypass RLS completely. We confirm yours is server-side only and has never been shipped to the browser or committed to your repository.
Performance-aware policy design
Badly written policies can run per row and make queries crawl. We write them so your access rules do not become your slowest query.

Why database security matters for your vibe-coded project.
Supabase and Firebase are excellent, and the thing that makes them fast to build with is the same thing that makes them easy to get wrong. Your database is reachable directly from the browser. That is by design, and it is safe only when the database itself enforces who may see what.
The public anon key is meant to be public. It is not a secret and it was never intended to be one. It is the row-level security policies behind it that do the actual protecting. If those are missing, the key stops being a front door with a lock and becomes an open doorway.
In January 2025, security researchers demonstrated what that means in practice. More than 170 applications built on one AI platform, disclosed as CVE-2025-48757, had databases that anyone could read in full. User emails, private messages, personal records, all retrievable with the project URL and a public key. Roughly ten percent of the projects analysed were affected.
The reason is mundane and worth understanding, because it explains why this keeps happening. AI builders add tables incrementally as you request features, and the step that creates the security policy does not always run for the new table. So your first three tables are protected, the fourth is not, and nothing anywhere warns you. Estimates for how often this affects vibe coded deployments have run between twenty and forty percent.
The difference between a prototype and a product is in the details. Database Security is one of those critical details that separates apps that fail from apps that scale.
We've handled database security for over 150 vibe-coded projects. We know exactly what you need and how to implement it correctly.
Every day without proper database security...
Every record you hold, readable by anyone
Not a subtle leak. Without RLS, a single query against your public endpoint returns the entire table, and the person running it needs no special access at all.
Data that can be changed, not just read
Missing write policies are worse than missing read policies. Someone can modify or delete rows they do not own, and you may not notice until a user reports their data has changed.
A breach you cannot detect after the fact
Reads through the public API often look indistinguishable from normal traffic. You frequently cannot prove whether anyone took the data, which is a very uncomfortable position when a regulator asks.
Notification duties that follow automatically
Once personal data is exposed, GDPR and similar frameworks impose obligations with deadlines. The remediation cost is rarely the expensive part.
You didn't start this project to let technical blockers stop you. You started it because you had a vision. Let us handle the database security so you can bring that vision to life.
Imagine your app with database security done right.
You have a written inventory showing every table, its policies, and exactly who can reach what. No guessing.
Someone authenticated as another user tries to read your customer records and receives an empty result, because the database itself refuses.
Your service role key lives in server-side environment variables only, and you can demonstrate it was never shipped to a browser.
You can answer the question "is our data actually protected" with a report rather than a hopeful yes.
It Just Works
Your database security is solid. No more worrying.
This is what happens when you stop struggling and let experts handle the hard parts. Your vibe-coded project deserves to work flawlessly.
What you get with our database security service.
Every table audited for RLS status and real coverage

Read and write access both locked down
Verified by active cross-user access attempts
Service role key exposure checked and remediated
Firebase security rules reviewed and rewritten
Applied as reviewable, revertible migrations
Performance-conscious policy design
Our database security process.
Connect us to your project
Read access to your database schema and your repository. We start with a full inventory of what exists and what is currently enforced.
You get the exposure report
A clear table-by-table breakdown of what is currently reachable by an anonymous visitor. Most people find this genuinely surprising.
We write and test the policies
Policies applied on a branch or staging project first, then tested from multiple user contexts to confirm they restrict what they should without breaking your app.
Deploy with a rollback path
Applied as migrations you can review and revert, not as clicks in a dashboard that nobody can reconstruct in six months.
Frequently asked questions.
How do I know whether my Supabase database is currently exposed?
In the Supabase dashboard, open the Table Editor and look for tables without RLS enabled, or check Authentication then Policies. If a table has no policies and RLS is off, it is readable by anyone with your project URL and anon key, both of which are visible in your frontend. If you are unsure how to interpret what you are seeing, that ambiguity is itself a good reason to have someone check.
Is my anon key being public actually the problem?
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding. The anon key is designed to be public and shipping it in your frontend is correct. The protection is supposed to come from row-level security policies behind it. The danger is having a public key with no policies, because then the key grants exactly the access the policies fail to restrict.
What was CVE-2025-48757?
A disclosure from January 2025 in which researchers found that more than 170 applications built on one AI development platform had publicly readable databases, affecting around ten percent of the projects they analysed. The root cause was not a platform bug. It was missing row-level security on tables the AI had created incrementally, with no warning to the developer that protection was absent.
Can I not just enable RLS myself? It looks like one line.
Enabling RLS is one line. Writing correct policies is the actual work. Turning RLS on without policies blocks all access and breaks your app, which is why people often turn it back off. The difficulty is expressing your real ownership and sharing rules as policies that permit legitimate access and nothing else, then confirming they hold under adversarial testing.
How long does this take?
A typical vibe coded app with ten to thirty tables takes 2 to 3 days including testing. The exposure report itself we can usually deliver within 24 hours, so you know where you stand quickly even if the full remediation takes a little longer.
Do you work with Firebase too, or only Supabase?
Both, along with other Postgres setups. Firebase has the equivalent problem: security rules left in test mode allow open read and write, and that test mode has a habit of quietly outliving its intended lifespan. The concepts and the failure modes are the same even though the syntax differs.
Will adding policies break my existing app?
It can if done carelessly, which is exactly why we apply them to a branch or staging project first and test each user flow before anything reaches production. Everything ships as reviewable migrations, so if something unexpected surfaces you can revert cleanly rather than debugging dashboard clicks nobody recorded.
